7 Seasons patch for Promised Land All-seasons Terrain (PlasV1). Version 0.99. The patch takes the basic three sets of tiles of the PlasV1 tile set, and by adjusting colour balance and intensity, turns them into seven sets. The intent is to enable players to see a more diverse and more gradual set of changes to the Red Baron landscape over the course of a year. Original PlasV1 provides a snowy mid-winter landscape, a lush mid-summer landscape and a relatively early autumn landscape. This patch adds a no-snow winter landscape, an early spring landscape, a full spring landscape and a late autumn landscape. They are designed to be used IN CONJUNCTION with the PlasV1 VOL files downloadable from (e.g.) the Hells Angels or Gump's websites. They will not work without them. This version can be used with RAC4X's modified PL Vols too, although at this stage you won't see any of his new terrain tweaks as the 7-seasons tiles will overwrite his. Planning to make the patches more complimentary in the future! Unzip to any folder you wish, making sure you check the 'use folder names' box. I have found it convenient to unzip to the /3DPatch folder, just as a way of keeping all terrain stuff together and close to the /Simpatch folder where it has to be copied. The alternative tile sets will be read by the game engine in conjunction with the appropriate PlasV1 VOL file. These are selected by RedBaron according to hard- wired dates: 21 December-20 March: Winter VOL file selected 21 March-20 September: Spring-Summer VOL file selected 21 September-20 December: Autumn VOL file selected. So I have arranged the new file sets in three groups to match: Winter alternatives (for use anytime between 21 December and 20 March): Snowy Winter No-Snow Winter Spring-Summer alternatives (for use any time between 21 March and 20 September) Early Spring Spring Summer Autumn alternatives (for use anytime between 21 September and 20 December) Early Autumn Late autumn To use them, the simplest and most flexible arrangement is to just go to the folder containing the landscape you want to see, copy all files and paste into the RedBaron/Data/Siimpatch folder. If you want to change the landscape, just go to one of the alternative sets, copy that folder's contents and drop it into Simpatch, over- writing any previous set. As a guide, I have trialled the patch using these dates to copy across the specified folder contents: 20 February - No-Snow Winter 21 March - Early Spring 1 May - Spring 1 July - Summer 21 September - Early Autumn 1 November - late Autumn 21 December - Snowy Winter But you can vary timings (within a season) as you please; e.g. swap back and forth from snow to no snow if you like. Note that most tiles have unique names, so you don't have to remove, say, the late autumn tiles before you add the winter tiles. The only case of tiles in common is the use of the same name for NomansLand tiles by the summer and autumn vols. To be safe, if you are changing between campaigns, make sure you update Simpatch with a fresh copy of the season folder you want to see. Bug: If you fly low over the coastal tiles you will see some trees growing n the sea. No doubt a fix will be found. This is a first release and it is improvable, so I hope to continue playing with the possibilities. As always, comments and suggestions can be posted on Delphi's SWWISA site or to me at mrars@bigpond.com. Thanks to Kessler for his original work in creating the PlasV1 tiles. By far the best terrain yet produced for RedBaron3D, IMHO. Happy Landings Mark66
