These two files must be included in all distributions of this package.

Installation

Extract the zip file into your Red Baron folder (c:\sierra\RedBaron3D or similar). Run the RB3DXPfix.exe in the folder or use a shortcut to RB3DXPfix.exe and you are off.

This works well as a shortcut on the desktop or any other folder, but not at all if it is pinned to the start menu .....

Usage

This utility works for single player and multi player. The program allows you to just modify the dat files or modify the dat files and launch RB for you. Either way the dat files get modified and you can launch RB any way you like. I've found it simpler to just let the launcher start the game after it has modified the dat.

Single - MMP

Selects the RB3D mode to fix/freeze/launch.

Freeze Preferences

When the single or mmp file is read only, Freeze Prefs will show checked.

I use RB3DXPfix to launch RB every time I play and leave Freeze Prefs unchecked. This configuration allows me to tweak my settings in RB and have them remain in place - the way the game was originally designed to play.

Freezing Prefs sets the mmp or single player dat file to read only - useful for "freezing" the preferences in the game so that you can start the game from the original icons or from something like RSS, Kali or the web RB3D Launcher. Freeze Prefs is used mainly for locking the settings in RB3D once you get them set the way you like. The settings will stay locked until the next time you run RB3DXPfix.exe with Freeze Prefs unchecked. Once locked the game can be launched using any other means of launching. This causes RB3D to ignore any changes made during any games until the next time you use RB3DXPfix.exe with Freeze Prefs uchecked.

Check this box to run Red Baron in the selected single player or MMP mode.
