Developer: Scott Beth 'Baron von Benz'
(Website) Publisher: Scott Beth 'Baron von Benz'
(Website) File Name: Uop4.5.zip File Type: Superpatch File Version: 4.5 File Release: 29-Aug-2000 File Size: 7.0 MByte Compatibility:
Installation of UOP 4.5:
The patch is comprised of two files, UOP4.5.zip and UOPadd.zip, the total size of the two files is approximately 11 MByte.
This version includes a comprehensive set of bitmaps that will
update throughout the war years, utilizing the 'date' feature
of Campaign Manager. The files should be unzipped into temporary
folders using 'retain folders' option. Then added using
von Toms Campaign Manager. Please refer to the installation
notes provided with CM for more specific information on
applying the patches.
PLEASE NOTE:
This patch was designed for use with Campaign Manager,
it does not include a broad basic patch for use without
this excellent program! If you prefer not to use CM, then
follow the instructions contained within the Readme file
(uop4.5readme.txt).
This patch will replace every aircraft bitmap supplied by Dynamix
with a new and improved version. Every effort has been made
to minimize the duplication of bitmaps (perhaps with the
exception of wheel bitmaps!) using the feature of "defaults"
These are the basic factory schemes, usually without any
specific markings that are visible in FLY NOW. Additionally,
many of the bitmaps are smaller in size than the originals,
which should result in faster loading of textures, however
insignificant that speed increase may be.
The schemes have been reduced in number except where I found
photographic or text evidence to support it's inclusion.
This is more difficult than is appears! If this rule was
adhered to implicitly, then the game would have few schemes
at all! In the case of Aces, where schemes can be ascertained
then the 'date' feature of CM will update the ace scheme
when appropriate. For example, Guynemer flew at least 3
SPAD VII's. Where a photograph was found for an Ace's N.17,
in some cases the same scheme was applied to his N.24, etc.
Sometimes the only difference between a squad default and
an Ace's aircraft is the serial number! You'll have to look
closely! Where no information could be found, the Ace scheme
will revert to the squadron default.
The
applied bitmaps are as accurate as possible, given the existing
3D models. The future will offer more possibilities on this
issue. Some of the 3D models have been altered, particularly
the solid fuselage bottoms, strut colors and a few adjusted
models have been incorporated. There are several new 3D
models courtesy of David Layton and Midnitemike. If you
look hard enough you might catch glimpses of several improved
ground vehicles or buildings….. There are no "cut-off"
of shapes and panel lines are as good as they get, now incorporating
Waldo's wing shading technique. ALL wings now use the same
shading pattern, so that the German AC do not show as 'smoother'
than the Allied counterparts.
Various
changes are somewhat arbitrary, particularly related to
changes in camoflague or markings. It is fairly certain
that aircraft were not ALL changed on the same date, but
the game will insist on doing so anyway. Perhaps in a later
version the date of change may be 'blurred' somewhat. What
is certain, however, is that you will see changes that did
occur historically, and within the scope of a single career,
probably valid. The changes range from subtle to ample,
you'll no doubt see the differences!
The
data files have been extensively reworked to be as accurate
as possible, with squadron name changes, aircraft version
changes and aircraft type changes. The limitations of the
game software excepted. The discrepancies found in the squadron.dat
and pilots.dat files are largely corrected. The view in
the "PaintShop" is accurate in that any bitmap shown WILL
be seen in the game at some point in time.
The
squadrons included are largely based on Beery's BSP2.0 with
the addition of: 3 Belgian Escadrilles, 2 MarineFlieger
Jasta, Jasta 21 and 19RFC The squads dropped were largely
French Escadrilles related to the breakup of Esc 124 prior
to it being handed over to the US. These squads are more
than largely superfluous, several had only 2 or 3 victories
before the Armistice! Thaw was dropped in favor of Willy
Coppens.

Developer: Beery Publisher: Beery File Name: Beery20.ZIP File Type: Super Patch File Version: 2.01 File Release: 22-Feb-2000 File Size: 7.4 MByte Compatibility: Red Baron II/3D, 3Dfx Glide graphics mode, Direct Draw graphics mode, Single Player
RELEASE NOTES:
This patch fixes a number of inconsistencies in Red Baron 2 and adds some features. The changes reflect the historical data concerning units and aces in the game.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that some of the changes included in this patch may adversely affect campaigns in progress (in short, there are no guarantees). This patch is in no way supported or endorsed by Sierra or Dynamix. It is an unofficial patch intended purely to enhance everyone's enjoyment of the game.
The patch is intended for use with Red Baron 3D, either the 3D boxed version, or the RB2 version with the 'Super Patch'. The patch works best in conjunction with von Tom's Campaign Manager. Later versions of RB3D, and unofficial versions, may not work with 'Single Missions'. This cannot be helped. In order for a 'Single Mission' to work properly, it must be created using the exact same version of the game used to play it.
Please do not mix BSP with any other major unofficial patch. Any patch which includes any of the following: (except.dat, filelist.dat, pilots.dat, squadron.dat) is not cross-compatible with any other patch which includes those same files. The only exception to this rule is the CMaddon patch, which must be used with the similarly numbered BSP (i.e. use 'CM add-on 2.0' with 'BSP2.0'). Other patches that do not include the aforementioned data files can be used with BSP with no adverse effects.

RELEASE NOTES:
This patch fixes a number of inconsistencies in Red Baron 2 and adds some features. The changes reflect the historical changes that occurred over time in the WW1 air war. This patch is in no way supported or endorsed by Sierra or Dynamix. It is an unofficial patch intended purely to enhance everyone's enjoyment of the game.
The patch is intended for use in conjunction with the 'Beery Super Patch'. It will not work with any other unofficial patch. The patch will only work in conjunction with von Tom's Campaign Manager.
RELEASE NOTES:
This patch is an amalgamation of what I consider to be the best of Todd Comeau's, Rabu's, Kessler's, Somunol's, Flybert's, and my own terrain graphics, as well as Captain Darwin's smoke patch, and Garp's fire patch. The patch comes in two parts, both of which are needed in order to get year-round graphics. Simply unzip the two patches (BSP2TRN1 and BSP2TRN2) to the patches folder if you're using CM, and then add each patch to the list of patches in use. If you don't use CM, copy the contents of the BSP2trn folders to the RedBaron3D\Data folder.

RELEASE NOTES:
Patch for use with Berry Super Patch 2.1 ONLY!!!
This patch cleans up the cowlings for use with Baron Von Helton's aircraft models. It will eliminate the black ring around the Nueiports 17, 24, 28, Sopwith Pups, 1 1/2 Strutter, and Triplanes while also enhancing the Fokker E3's. The problem in the original Beery skin is that a black line was drawn in the front of the cowling to simulate the "open" hole for the rotary engine. Applying this patch will clear this up and give a better look to the engine cowling.

RELEASE NOTES:
The Canvas Falcons Super Patch Project for the flight sim Red Baron 3D is a comprehensive patch that is intend to be built upon by the user if so desired. It contains the original engine of the UOP 4.5 series and has been altered with the UOP File Editor (Thank you Tom Harradine). The patch is intended to be historically accurate in a comprehensive kind of way, yet it is also intended to be fun and flexible, as well. Example: The Red Richthofen D7 that is in the patch as of Ver. 3 and the Berthold Dr1 paint scheme that was added in Ver. 1. The Baron, as far as I know, never had a red D7 but no doubt flew a D7 and may have eventually changed over to a red D7 if he had survived. Same holds for Berthold: No doubt he flew a Dr.1 somewhere along the way, but whether he had a painted one to his liking is unknown. There is a balance of old art and new art in the latest version and tampering is encouraged. This game can go on and on if we just keep getting new talent and continue to make the game better.
IMPORTANT:
This version of the Canvas Falcons Super Patch adds a lot more 3D Models and borrows heavily on Baron von Heltons bomber models. Charles da Thielts Super EIII and D7 have been added as well as vHeltons Dr1. There are also a few other vHelton planes added. The Pfalz 12 is now a 3D plane. However, this patches major focus is on looks and in adding more bitmaps to the game so individual paint schemes for aces and squadrons can be accessed more easily. The patch has been polished more where the art is concerned and the newest 3D Models from Thielt and vHelton are Magnificent. ALL PREVIOUS UPGRADES to the patch THAT WERE POSTED HERE BEFORE ARE INCLUDED IN THE PATCH!
a. Added 3D models. D7, Dr1, Eindecker EIII, and bombers.

The Artwork has been done by Garp from his research into the Lafayette Escadrille and depicts the original Seminole Indian motif of October 1916 to April 1917 and the later Sioux Warrior insignia. The Addon also replaces the FFpatch's bmps for Raoul Lufberry's Nieuport 11, Nieuport 17 and Spad VII and supplies a new Insignia for the Lafayette Escadrille in the Squadron Information screen.

This is a preperation tool for Full Canvas Jacket users that run
the old RB2 game that theyve superpatched to 3D using Sierra's
superpatch (rb3d_spr.exe). This utility will clean out and
replace certain files in the Sierra superpatch that conflict
or overwrite aspects of the FCJ patch.
It is important that all superpatched users run this utility after
running Sierra's superpatch but before installing the FCJ
superpatch. Download this zip file and unzip to any directory,
then simply double click the rb2cleaner.exe file and follow the
install directions. Users do not need to run the other exe
(FCJconv.exe) this is automatically run by the rb2cleaner.exe.
NOTE BY CAP'N DARWIN:
This is an updated version of the Cleaner program which will
account for the new profiles ability in the 2.1+ Control Panel.
The current version will show Profile folders in the listbox
since a Baron.exe is present. The "Well Duh!" award goes to me

that puts in the correct files. A thousand pardons to those of

RELEASE NOTE:
This is a Mission Generator for stock Red Baron 3D, or Red Baron 3D patched with Full Caavas Jacket Super Patch or Western Front Patch.
Features:
Changes mission altitudes. This was the original intent. RB assigns altitudes from 6 - 9K feet. In reality planes were flying at 12K feet by late 1916 and 16K feet or more by late 1917. MissionGen sets mission altitudes to be appropriate for the plane, usually meaning higher altitudes for missions.
Changes in 2 seater missions. Currently all RB 2 seater missions are bombing missions. MissionGen uses other mission types that RB supports but for some reason does not use. After using MissionGen you will see recon missions, arty spotting missions, and attack missions (low level bombing) for 2 seaters. The latest version of MissionGen is even more sensitive to assignment of appropriate mission types to plane types.
Allied offensive patrols in German campaigns. RB NEVER assigns allied offensive patrols if the player is flying a German campaign. Besides being completely non-hostoric, it is also dull. MissionGen corrects this by changing some allied scout missions to offensive patrols and moving the waypoints over German lines. Now you are no longer safe behind your own lines as a German pilot. As you are molesting that fligt of 2 seaters that you caught behind your lines you will never know when a flight of allied scouts will make an appearance. IMHO this is one of the biggest game play enhancers in MissionGen.
Setting appropriate formation sizes: RB does not really change the formation size as the war goes on, which does not at all reflect reality. MissionGen takes care of that. Formation sizes start small in 1915 and grow to full squadron outings by 1918 (full squadron missions are the max allowed by RB). Now flying in major 1918 furballs will feel distinctly different from the lone hunting of 1915.
Setting appropriate level of scout activity: RB does not have the ability to account for the relatively small numbers of scouts in use at the front early in the war. MissionGen does this by eliminating some percentage of scout missions early in the war. As the war progresses scout missions are brought to full intensity. As a result scout encounters will be realistically less common in 1915 and very common by 1918.
Jagdgeschwader missions. MissionGen will now randomly combine missions from historically associated squadrons, resulting in missions tat may be two squadrons/jastas strong.

RELEASE NOTES:
This is the version of Hell's Angels that was released prior to the Super Patch. It is a Legacy patch and meant to be used by those that enjoy flying and using Stock FM/DM's in RB3D. This is not a new HASP version, it is quite old and contains many skins that were replaced and some aces that were removed. As a tribute to the great and loyal fans of the Red Baron Community, it will be preserved for all to enjoy and appreciate. You may consider using the new Greybeard FM and Zintek DM for use on STOCK RB3D aircraft assignments. HAG did not have the extra plane slot for the French AR-1 that HASP eventually contained.

RELEASE NOTES:
Hell's Angels is a non-date based Super Patch. It contains scenery, effects, objects, skins, damage models, flight models, and shell enhancements for the original Red Baron 3D game by Sierra Dynamics. It is not recommended but it can safely be used in Direct Draw mode and does not require the use of a 3Dfx based card. I do recommend that you download the terrific dgVoodoo wrapper if you are using an Nvidia or ATI based graphics card.
This patch was the work of not only myself, but many of the best Red Baron modelers, designer, programmers, and artisans in the RB Community. It began simply as my 'Home Brew' Simpatch folder and grew from there. Over the years, after acquiring so many patches, skins, effects, etc, I decided it was time to mastermind the production of my own artistic effort. Inspired by the 1930's WWI movie, Hell's Angels, I tried my best to co-ordinate, re-master, alter and create the best atmosphere possible for the RB flyer. From novice to Ace, there is a little bit for every skill level interested in the history and atmosphere of WWI aerial combat.
There are many enhancements offered in this patch, to include:
All Aircraft models by SWWISA
Greybeard's newest Flight Model with wing loading effects and degrading performance.
Zintek Damage Model includes forward firing machine guns on all bombers/recons.
Combined scenery from both Kessler's latest PL Super Patch and Rabu's OTE 4-Seasons Patch.
New Ace schemes for aces like Kurt Wolf, Lothar von Ritchtofen, Josef Mai, Otto Konnecke, Ulrich Neckel, Joe Fall and others.
Accurate Ace profiles backed by SWWISA historians Steve Fabert and Shredward.
Garp's Flameout combined with Capt. Darwin's smoke.
Leaping pilot patch by Hobbes - sorry no parachute patch, here you die!
New German, French, British, and American name lists.
Hundreds of new skins derived from Andreas, OvS, Shredward, Delta K, Walther Weaver, Baron von Helton, Lowengrin, and Pat Wilson's WFP efforts.
The most being the amount of attention I paid to the details like skins, colors and patterns. I concentrated on matching lines, matching cockpit views, and creating the effect of realism by matching all insignias, liveries and lozenge patterns as close as possible.
HA does not require a Campaign Manager like CM11 to operate. It is a one time install and can be done with or without CM11. The patch uses the stock RB aircraft list and does not use aircraft slot switching. It was designed for simplicity, but heavy content. My goal was to fit as much as possible into the original constraints of the game designs/limits. With HA, there are 5 new German aces. Although that required the removal of 4 Entente aces, and Max Immelman, it was worth it. Now you get back Hermann Göring, and add in Fritz von Röth, Otto Kissenberth, Josef Mai, and Kurt Wolf.
Aces are complete with aircraft schemes and profiles. All Ace pictures have been updated with more attractive, recognizable, war time portraits, providing a more personal feel to the game. You can now see what Ernst Udet looks like rather than that annoying picture of him squashed down in his flight suit. LOL!
At any rate, please take time to look at the smaller details in HA. It's what I concentrated on the most. Variety, atmosphere, action, and precision are words I can think to best describe HA. I hope you enjoy it as I had you all in mind when I made it. It has been a lot of fun (and very long nights!). Download it now and jump into WWI!

This patch is a fun, totally fictitious patch that will turn Red Baron 3D into the 1966 Hollywood epic movie of the same title. It's based on 'Jasta 23b BM' and allows you to fly with Bruno Stachel, Willi von Klugerman and Otto Heidemann. It contains skins, aces, aircraft allocation that best match the movie and story line as close as Red Baron 3D would let me take it.
Also included are 6 single missions that will take you through some of the more famous scenes from the movie. Please refer to the readme file for more info.

RELEASE NOTES
Upgraded flight model for Hell's Angels Super Patch (caution: NOT suited for Hell's Angels Gold!).
FEATURES
This FM is suited for Hell's Angels "SuperPatch" by Otto von Stachel. It uses new wing aerofoils by Rens, so they are included. It is based on Panama Red's BetaFMS8.
It works only in "authentic" mode (in RB3D Realism Settings).
New in v.4:
Fixed tendency to stall and spin of Fokker E III. Added latest Zinteck's damage model. Unhistorical arc-firing front guns have been removed and damage model modified accordingly ("bomber gunner" deactivated, where applicable, so to prevent game crash as happens when these two parameters do not match). As a consequence you have two option: ONE - launch program by Gabi's ReLoad with its Front Guns option activated to have two-seaters pilots firing their fixed guns straight in front of them or TWO - launch with Front Guns deactivated (or even without ReLoad) to have only rear gunners firing at you. Of course, aircrafts having real swivelling front guns, like F.E.2, will continue to arc-fire at you also from their front side!

Three small fixesfor HASP.
DH2 cockpit internal view fix - Greybeard - 5 april 2005
In original Hell's Angels the centre part of cockpit don't fit with the upper part, leaving two black corner on each side along the rim. This fixes that.
Halberstadt D.II wings span fix - Greybeard - 11 april 2005
Pat Wilson's Halberstadt D.II has upper and lower wings of equal span; this is historically not correct, since they was respectively 28'11" and 25'11" . This mini-patch shows the actual spans in Hell's Angels .
Halberstadt D.II internal view of radiator fix - Greybeard - 11 april 2005
In original Hell's Angels radiator viewed from cockpit in virtual internal view (F2) is shifted to left, so that wing strut looks fitted in its centre.
This mini-patch relocates radiator to the correct position.

RELEASE NOTES:
The Hell's Angels SuperPatch (HASP)
is a great RB3D patch, but the full single player version is not
compatible with RB3D multi-player mode (MMP). However, I have found a
way to overcome this problem. The idea to the project originally came up
when Otto von Stachel released the official HASP MMP patch as a separate
patch. I already have four separate RB3D installs (stock/MMP, Hell's
Angels, Western Front Patch, & Full Canvas Jacket) that together with
some other RB3D utilities occupy more than 5 GB of disk space, so I
didn't like the idea of having yet another one just for HA MMP.
I also wanted to retain as much as possible of HASP in MMP mode, rather
than having a separate stripped down MMP patch. However, I wanted to use
the stock RB3D cockpit instrument panels for MMP to play on equal terms
with other pilots.
Why use my HASP/MMP install rather than the "official" HASP MMP patch?
Well, I can only quote Otto von Stachel from his release notes for the
Hell's Angels Multi Player Patch: /"This is a scaled down version of
HASP that is meant to be used as a separate install into your MMP
version of RB3D. It does not include any cockpits, effects, ground
objects, or any of the special shell enhancements from the original
version." /The difference is that I have not deleted anything from the
HASP patch, only moved those files that are not compatible with MMP from
Simpatch to Shellpat (+ optionally the custom cockpit files if you want
stock cockpits in MMP).
After applying my toolkit, the HASP Simpatch folder (which contains the
files that are used in both MMP and SP) contains 4553 files, whereas the
HA MMP patch has 3163 files in Simpatch. So I guess there are 4553 -
3163 = 1390 reasons for using my setup instead :-)
What's in the toolkit?
The toolkit consists of two batch files that enable you to create a
full HASP install for both SP and MMP game play. This is done by moving
the flight model and aircraft spec files and (optionally) the custom
instrument panel files from the Simpatch folder to the Shellpat folder
in order to achieve MMP compatibility.
I have tested this modified HASP install in MMP on several servers, some
with added security, and also on RSS servers without any problems. I
have also tested in SP (Fly Now, Single mission, and Campaign mode).
Thus, I think that the time has come to offer this toolkit to anyone
else who would like to try it. I take all credit but accept no
responsibility. :-)

RELEASE NOTES
Cockpit models for Western Front Patch 2 - by Greybeard - 12 Jul 2008. New in this second release: Where applicable, wing chord and its incidence have been made more realistic.
FEATURES
This is a modification to have a closer to reality player's point of view in "virtual cockpit" (F2) of Red Baron 3D patched with WFP2. It has been moved forth while wings and their struts have been generally lowered to get a layout as close as possible to historical one. Original or at least scaled drawings have been used as reference. This is a beta and not all flyable planes have been revised.
Developer: Golgo11 Publisher: Golgo11 File Name: NML_Sounds.zip File Type: Sound Effects File Version: 1.0 File Release: 06-May-2009 File Size: 7.77 MByte Compatibility: Red Baron II/3D, Direct Draw graphics mode, 3Dfx Glide graphics mode, Single Player, Western Front Patch 2, Moving Front Patch 4, von Tom's Campaign Manager 1.1 (mandatory)
RELEASE NOTES
Golgo's NML Sound for WFP2 & MFP4 is NML (No Man's Land) sounds date-bases system that is based on the idea of Mark_66's (the author of awesome "Moving Front Patch 4" patch), "RB3D Tempo Management System And Random Campaign Generation".
Using this patch, Gunfire sounds around NML will change not only by month but also by the intensity of ground operations (e.g. Flanders March 1917, there is no campaign so you will hear "Light Gunfire sounds" flying above NML, but in April, the "Arras" heavy ground operation starts, so NML sounds turn to "Heavy"). It will be useful to find and keep the route to the target in the dark night with Golgo's "Mission in the Dark" patch, but this sound patch will be fun for all RB Die-Hard Pilots in any kinds of mission.
This patch will be working with any UOP's that are compatible with WFP2, because I'm personally using this patch with WFP2 & MFP4, so I arranged the date (YYMMDD) of sub folders to match with those two UOP's.

RELEASE NOTES:
WFP nearly triples the number of aircraft seen in a Red Baron campaign. With 6.0 onwards there are now 100 aircraft in WFP. To do this, aircraft models, cockpits, skins, historical research, and everything else that makes up a patch were begged, borrowed, or developed from scratch by/from people throughout the RB community.
WFP works by taking advantage of von Tom's Campaign Manager's date based capabilities. Files are swapped in and out based on the date registered in CM.
The Promised Land patch and WFP are 100% compatible, as are all patches listed in the alternate section above.
WFP and MissionGen:
MissionGen is a program that alters mission files. It is not a patch. WFP is pre-configured to work with MissionGen.

RELEASE NOTES:
Some replacement gun sounds for WFP, plus a new bullet strike. Gunsounds contains a set of files that are a bit louder than Gunsounds Light, otherwise they are identical. I have included separate copies of the files named to reflect the type of gun, so that you can sample the sounds before installing the patch. Load the patch last after you have installed WFP, then reset your game date and enjoy.
Version 1.2 adds two new alternate sounds for the Spandau. Spandau guns changed sound when the conical flash suppressor was added in the fall of 1916, hence the options. The original Spandau sound was derived from a sound clip of an MG15, which is the right bore size but not the right mechanical action. In version 1.2 the 150801 folder contains a 500rpm clip of a Browning 1919, aircooled Maxim type of .30-06 caliber, and the 160901 folder has a similarly paced clip of the same Browning with conical flash supressor.
NOTE:
Those are replacement gun sounds for Western Front Patch 1. They most likely work with Western Front Patch 2 also.

RELEASE NOTES:
The Wingstrut 2.2 version is simply the updated and final posting of Wingstrut 2.1a with a number of enhancements and changes outlined below. You will need both Wst2.2 and Wdate.2.2 to play. This is not compatable with any prior Wstrut version or other aircraft patches such as BSP, VHDemo or Flanders and is a stand alone aircraft patch. A few minor corrections which have already been posted are incorporated into this final patch version. Some additional changes are noted below.
A few of the German unit bases have been corrected or changed. Just a few of the FA and FAA unit bases were changed for game balance.
