NOTE:
Due to the amount of downloads on this site not every file could be
tested for functionality and it may happen that you harm your flight
simulation installation by applying those files. Please make a backup
of your installation folder(s) before you try anything out. We can
not held responsible if anything happens to your computer, operating
system or software installation(s).
Also we can not provide any support to these files. If you
have questions or run into troubles please ask the creator(s) of the
respective enhancement(s) or frequent the various message boards dedicated
to those mods and enhancements. You can always ask those questions on
our forums also but please do not e-mail us.
We try to include a ReadMe file for each file if available for your convenience. Thus you can take a look into the ReadMe file without downloading the file package first. Beware, not every archive contains a ReadMe thus an empty or non-functional link may be displayed.
Where there are files which are not hosted here on Wings Of Honor we link to external resources specifically marked as 'external link'. In those cases this is a reference just for the sake of completeness of the publicly available files. You may view this as a 'file catalogue' of what is available. Hintergrund angesehen, ein würdiger Nachfolger des ersten Red
Baron, der 1990 veröffentlicht wurde.

Red Baron: Atemberaubende Luftkämpfe in 21 klassischen
Kampfflugzeugen des Ersten Weltkriegs mit hochdetaillierten

It contains the German version of Red Baron II plus the Superpatch
1.0.7.7 plus the Red Baron Community's First Aid Kit.
The 1.0.7.8 patch is necessary but missing in this package.
You can download this one below.
How to convert this German version
into an English version and patch it to Red Baron 3D will be part
of a tutorial that will follow later.
TO INSTALL THE GAME:
Extract the files in a separate folder on your hard disk.
Start the file Setup.exe and follow the instructions on your
screen.
Now unzip Superpatch.zip and start Superpatch.exe
The last step is to unzip the First Aid Kit and install it
SYNOPSIS:
This patch will update Red Baron 3D with a client side patch
for MMP.
This patch was published by Sierra to fix a problem for RB users
where servers failed to appear in the metaserver listing.
The issue is an unusual one that has to do with the way
Internet routers divide the information up to send to you.
SYNOPSIS:
This patch will convert your Red Baron II game to Red Baron 3D.
A new 3D graphics mode for 3Dfx graphics adapter is introduced as
well as the Massively Multi Player mode with up to 64 players
online. A new flight model will come with it also.
RELEASE NOTES:
In order to use this new version of Red Baron 3D, you must already
own Red Baron 2.
COMMON QUESTIONS:
Q:
Can I install the Super Patch over the previous '3D Patch?'
A:
Yes, you can install the Super Patch over any version of Red Baron
2.
Q:
Is this download identical to the boxed version of RB3D?
A:
In terms of gameplay, yes. The only thing that's been split
out is the server code, which allows you to sest up and
run your own Massive Multiplayer server. We did this strictly
for file size reasons, and we will make the server software
available as a separate download very soon.
Q:
Will this enhancement run without a 3D card?
A:
Yes, it will run perfectly well in Direct Draw mode - the
normal, non-3D-accelerated mode you're used to.
Q:
If I do not have a 3D card what will I miss?
A:
If you don't have a 3D card you'll still be able to take
advantage of all of the improvements in RB3D with the exception
of the 3D acceleration itself and those terrain objects
which are dependent on the 3D card. The major objects you'll
miss without 3D are the cloud layers and the trees.
SYNOPSIS:
This patch will update any full version of Red Baron II to version
1.06. It contains the updated flight model, and 3Dfx Support.
Please see the readme file for more information.
SYNOPSIS:
This patch will update Red Baron II to version 1.05. It contains
a new flight model, and a few other fixes. Please see the readme
file (READMEFM.TXT) which will be installed into the game
directory for more information.

SYNOPSIS:
This is the server software for running an own Red Baron 3D MMP
server.
NOTE BY DYNAMIX:
The following file contains everything you need to set up and run
your own Red Baron 3D Massive Multiplayer server except a machine
to run it on and some bandwidth. Please read all the
documentation included in the download, as it includes important
information about the terms under which you can use this
software. Essentially, you can't charge money for letting people
play on your server, but please read the docs. In addition, you
may find some of the extra documentation available below to be
of interest.
ATTENTION SERVER OPERATORS!
You will need to install both of the following two cookie files
to allow the patched clients into your server. If you do not
install these cookie files, no one who is using the above patch
will be able to play on your server! They are included in the
Client Patch 1.0.7.8 above but for convenience here they are
separately.
TO INSTALL THE COOKIES!
1. Download the two cookie files.
2. Place them with your other cookie files in the Server
directory. You should see other cookies already there, for
example cookie1006.bin.
3. Open your rb2server.ini file and scroll down to the bottom.
You will see a section marked [Clients].
4. Add the following two lines:
* Cookie=Cookie1007.bin

(Website) File Name: rb2server1003.zip File Type: Game Server File Version: 1.0.0.3 File Release: - File Size: 2.9 MByte Compatibility:
SYNOPSIS:
rb2serve.exe version 1.0.0.3 is unsupported and was never
approved for public release by Dynamix/Sierra.The version number,
internal file date and slight larger size distinquish this file
from rb2serve.exe version 1.0.0.1 from the RB3D CD or the separate
download from Sierra, version 1.0.0.2 (1.0.01 and 1.0.0.2 are
identical files).
You will see new lines in the Kill log. It refers to targets by
number rather than name. Unselected targets, meaning those not
red boxed, are not noted as destroyed.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
You need to install the server software 1.0.0.2 first. Then
replace the rbserve.exe 1.0.0.2 with this one, 1.0.0.3.
INSTRUCTIONS:
You must have the game set to TEAM_ MELEE , DeadTargetRemove=1 in
rb2server.ini and Log Kills on in rb2server.csc.
Simple as that !:)
Please retain this document in any republication of rb2serve.exe
version 1.0.0.3 rb2serve.exe 1.0.0.3 was originally acquired from
Dynamix by Flybert.
SYNOPSIS:
The Red Baron 3D Server Config Tool is a graphical user interface
for setting up a server easily without having to mess with the
server .ini file.
This excellent utility is HIGHLY recommended as it makes creating
and editing your server.ini files a snap!
This handy dandy little free goodie will walk you through the
process of setting up your own MMP server. Please still read all
the various documentation so you'll know what's going on inside
your machine, but this should make the setup much easier for most
users.
Still the server .ini file will present the server operator a more
detailled control of his server.
SYNOPSIS:
This is the server software update for the 1.0.0.1 server found
on the Red Baron 3D CD.
NOTE BY DYNAMIX:
The version of the server software which is included on the boxed
RB3D CD has a trivial but annoying bug we've fixed, and you can
download the updated .exe here. The above full server d/l
includes the corrected version. If you don't know which version
you have, the old one is version 1.0.0.1; this new, updated file
is version 1.0.0.2.
This download is the complete new .exe file only. It will only
work if you have the rest of the server software. Download this
file into a temp folder, then go into your existing Red Baron
Server folder and remove the current rb2serve.exe. Then place the
new version into that folder and you're good to go.
(If you're wondering, the bug only occurs after a server has been
left on continuously for at least a week, with heavy and
irregular traffic. The server runs out of ports and starts
kicking players off and not letting them back in; a software
reset fixes the problem. Most rogue servers would never see it,
but here's the fix.)
PALMAP takes 8-bit (256 color) or 24-bit (truecolor) bitmaps and remaps them to Red Baron II's simulation palette for use in the game.
To use PALMAP:
1) Export a texture from the Paint Plane area of the game (refer to the manual for details on Paint Plane). The texture will be located in the RedBaron3D\Paint folder where you have Red Baron 3D installed.
2) Edit the texture in your favorite paint program.
3) When you're done editing the texture, save it to the \Paint folder and open a DOS box. Change to the RedBaron3D\Paint directory.
4) Type:
palmap [-O ]
is the file you want converted is optional. Use it if you want the converted texture to have a different name.
For instance, if you edit a texture for the Nieuport 11's fuselage, you may type:
palmap n11fus.bmp
-or-
palmap n11fus.bmp -O n11fus2.bmp
-if you want the output file to be named "n11fus2.bmp", leaving n11fus.bmp in its original form.
5) Your texture should now be converted! Return to the game and "import" the new texture!

Much of this material is duplicated in various locations, but
having a central repository for all available RB3D docs just
makes sense, so here it is. Important note: depending upon what
browser you're using, you may have to use the Save As: function
to download some of these files, then read them on your desktop.
If you have any trouble, please jump over to the Forum and ask
for help. Either a Dynamix rep or another player will respond.
The Gameplay section of the RB3D manual is available in
PDF format. This is everything except the historical section,
which is unchanged from the RB2 manual. PDF files are
printer-ready and can be read using the Adobe Acrobat reader,
which is available from
Adobe.
You may well have it on your machine already, though.
Another very useful server setup document is available in
.txt format. This is the one the server software tries to get
you to read when you first run it, so hopefully you did that.
In the interest of competeness, here it is.
Here are the five maps used in RB3D, in two versions each:
one with all the target locations indicated, and a bigger
version without the targets. All are in JPG format.
